Does anyone have $30 million to spare?
The jersey worn by New York Yankees legend Babe Ruth when he hit one of baseball’s most notable home runs could sell for an incredible $30 million at an upcoming auction, making it arguably the most expensive jersey ever purchased. During the 1932 World Series against the Chicago Cubs, Ruth, wearing a gray road jersey with the number 3 on his back, pointed toward center field to announce a home run, then immediately hit a home run in the direction he pointed in the fifth inning (though there’s been some debate, I believe this was how the baseball gods originally intended it).
The “Called Shot” is one of baseball’s most memorable moments and has remained so ever since it occurred 92 years ago. As Heritage Auctions, the organization behind the auction, said in a press release, the scene has been “endlessly celebrated, imitated and recreated.” CNN.

Considering how controversial “Cold Shot” is these days, I’m honestly surprised this auction sold for $30 million, but it just goes to show how iconic this moment was (and still is) for baseball fans.
