Former ‘Bachelorette’ contestant wants to see ‘real progress’ with trans lead on the show

An alumna of “The Bachelorette” wants to see a transgender person play a lead role on the show.

Josh Sater, who appeared on season 11 of “The Bachelorette” in 2015, praised the show’s creators for trying to diversify but said they need to do more.

“It’s amazing that the Bachelor franchise is finally casting more diverse people (even though it’s been a long time coming), but real progress wasn’t made until a transgender woman was cast in a leading role,” Sater shared on her Instagram Story on Tuesday, August 13.

Sater, 37, came out as transgender in May. The reality TV contestant opened up about her gender transition in an Instagram post.

“I have not been met with the acceptance, tolerance and compassion that the left loves to preach,” the former “Bachelorette” contestant added.

“For as long as I can remember, I have struggled with my gender identity and the associated feelings of guilt and shame. For the last 30 years, I have gone to great lengths to keep this side of myself private,” the Chicago native shared on Instagram on May 20.
