Former President Trump returned to Pennsylvania on Saturday ahead of next week’s Democratic National Convention, hoping to garner support from voters in the city near President Biden’s hometown of Scranton and stave off enthusiasm for Vice President Harris, who is rising sharply in the polls.
He is also expected to focus on rising prices and what his campaign sees as a “crime wave” while campaigning in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania.
The event came as Trump holds a slim lead over Harris in key battleground states. Emerson College/RealClearPennsylvania Survey The survey found that former President Trump had the support of 49 percent of likely voters, giving him a slight lead over Harris by one percentage point. When undecided voters were included, Trump’s lead widened by two points (51 percent to 49 percent).
The Hill/Decision Desk Polling Index gives the Democrat a narrower lead, with 48.2 percent to Trump’s 47.4 percent.
The rally will mark the former president’s second campaign trip in the Keystone State since an assassination attempt was made at a rally in the state about a month ago, when he was grazed by a bullet on his ear.
The event is scheduled to begin at 4pm EDT.
