A new chapter has been added to the ongoing feud between Tyreek Hill and Noah Lyles.
Lyles, a world-class sprinter who won the 100-meter dash in a photo finish at the 2024 Olympics, accused Dolphins star Tyreek Hill of using his name for influence during a recent podcast appearance.
And Hill Sunday X Postchallenged Lyles to a 50-yard contest to settle the dispute.
The argument dates back to Lyles’ argument that a Super Bowl champion shouldn’t be called a world champion, a claim that also applies to Hill, who won one with the Chiefs in 2020.
In an interview, Hill said he thought he could beat Lyles in the race, but Lyles said he had never heard of Hill.
“Who is the football cheetah guy and what’s his name?“I can’t remember the name. What’s the name of the football player who thinks he’s fast?” Lyles said.
That led to a recent development, when Lyles appeared on “Nightcap,” hosted by Shannon Sharpe and Chad “Ochocinco” Johnson, and said of Hill, “If he’s serious and not just talking on the Internet… If you’re serious, you know I’m on track.”
“Tyreek just wants clout.“He says whenever a fast guy comes along he wants to race them. If he really wanted to compete he would have shown up like DK Metcalf,” Lyles added.
Hill challenged Lyles to a race and implored him to sign the contract and enter the 50-yard race, to which Lyles responded.
Hill, a five-time All-Pro who led the NFL with 1,799 yards receiving last year, is also a fellow athlete like Lyles, winning the 60-meter dash at last year’s USA Track and Field Masters Indoor Championships in just 6.7 seconds.
He was a state champion in high school and an All-American in the indoor 200 meters while at Oklahoma State University. According to NFL.com:.
At the Olympics, Lyles trailed for much of the 100m race but won by 0.005 seconds, falling behind rival Kishane Thompson for the first 90m but surging back to win the gold medal.
A few days later, he placed third in the 200 meters, but then revealed he had been diagnosed with COVID-19, but decided to compete anyway.
It may be difficult for Hill to beat Lyles in the election, COVID-19 or not, but it would still be a fascinating event.
