Santos’ fate hangs in the balance
George Santos: “Look, my trial is starting right now. I’m scared.”
“I’m not surprised. It’s not an easy process. It’s damaging to your mental health. I’m not mentally healthy. That sort of thing is mentally hurtful and damaging.”
“My life? I was born in Elmhurst Hospital in Jackson Heights. We lived in a basement apartment. I was a kid of immigrants, so I vacationed in Brazil. I’m a New York resident and I married my wife here. That lasted a few years. Then I came out in 2021 and married my husband, Matt. We met in 2018.”
“The press calls George Santos a liar, so he will always continue to lie. I’m not calling myself a victim, but I no longer miss the rubber chicken dinners and frenzied fundraisers.”
“I suffer from body dysmorphia, it’s making me confused. Combined with depression, I have attention deficit disorder.
“Matt is my housekeeper. That’s his role now. Weekends in the Poconos. It takes the pressure off of the craziness of sitting in a tiny apartment while the world pisses on you. Getting your feet on the grass or going for a hike helps relieve the pressure.”
“I know I need to get my life together and get out of this melting pot I live in, and then I’m going to have kids.”
Role Model
Forget the nonsense, why create such a horrible situation? Why inconvenience everyone? Just for attention and possibly jail time? What are you trying to say? Kids need order. You can’t provide it.
“I can’t answer that. I just sit there thinking, ‘What happened?’ I just did it. I created this mess and I don’t know why. I know I’m not well. The tabloids are saying I’ll get 20 years in prison. Some media pundits are saying I could get a total of 50 to 60 years. Oh my God. I can’t stand it.”
How about you stop lying?
“That’s true, but I was inexperienced. I’m a political nut. I was fascinated by politics and I trusted people I shouldn’t have trusted. I don’t take that lightly.
“I know lying is not acceptable, I know I shouldn’t lie, but I’m human, and I’ve made mistakes.
“I should sue the producers of America’s Next Top Model because I watched too much of it as a kid. I created so much insecurity about myself.”
Are you clearly saying you have mental health issues?
“Maybe I can’t concentrate. I watched a lot of that as a kid and it made me feel uneasy, I should sue Tyra Banks and the producers.”
Court marriage for those seeking seats
Talking politics:
Civil Court Judge Gerald Lebovitz can run unopposed for a vacant New York County Supreme Court seat in November. Democrats approved him on Aug. 8. He is scheduled to be sworn in next January. His wife, Margaret Chan, is already a Manhattan Supreme Court justice.
When OurTown columnist Arlene Khayat asked him about serving on the same court as his wife, who was elected three years ago, he replied, “She is my supervising judge at home and at work.”
So yeah, kudos to the Democrats. I don’t know why.
In the immortal words of Irving Nostradamus, “No one is lonely while eating spaghetti. They just need to be very careful.”
Maybe it’s just New York, guys, it’s just New York.
