She came up with pizza in Chicago.
New York Gov. Kathy Hockle on Wednesday turned her nose up at the Windy City’s beloved deep-dish pizza, claiming she’s too much of a pizza connoisseur to even try a slice.
Hoffle shook his head gently. NY1 Washington Correspondent Kevin Frey During a visit to Chicago for the Democratic National Convention, he asked her to take a bite, raw, in front of the cameras.
With a look of disgust on his face, Hoklu thought for a few seconds before admitting that the slice was “a bit odd looking.”
“I don’t know what to make of this. I don’t know why it’s so expensive,” she continued, pressing her fingers along the thick crust.
The politician then said he wasn’t very keen on New York food because it takes so long to prepare, and that making New Yorkers wait an hour is too long.
“We’re going to be hungry. We’re not going to wait an hour. We want our pizza made in one New York minute. So I might pass on this and wait until I get home to have some old-fashioned New York pizza that’s made in one minute,” Hokl said.
Frey laughed when Hoffle refused to take a bite of her slice, but again asked her to just take one bite.
However, Hawkle again rejected the reporter’s request.
“No, I don’t know if I would. I have very high standards. I made pizza for five years in high school,” she said.
“I’m a pizza connoisseur. This is about the size of three pizzas I make.”
Before his exit, Hawkle delivered one last powerful punch to Chicago-style pizza lovers: “If you want to know about pizza, talk to me.”
