Biden-Harris DOE official lampooned over ‘queering nuclear weapons’ initiative

A senior Energy Department official in the Biden-Harris administration is facing ridicule over a radioactive recommendation that policymakers adopt a “weird lens” when dealing with nuclear weapons and the power to wipe out all of humanity on Earth, deprioritizing “the abstract concept of national security.”

Sneha Nair began her job in February as a special assistant to the National Nuclear Security Administration, the Energy Department’s semi-autonomous nuclear security arm. Just a few months earlier, she had written an article in the Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists titled,Queering Nuclear Weapons: How LGBTQ+ Inclusion Strengthens Security and Reframes Disarmament

At the start of the article, Nair and Lewis Lightman, an advocate for DEI in the nuclear field, expressed frustration with the critical response to a 2022 panel discussion on “LGBT+ Identities in the Nuclear Weapons Field.”

“Queer theory can help change how practitioners, experts, and the general public think about nuclear weapons.”

A Biden-Harris administration official suggested that criticism of the event – such as the idea that “mentally ill people should not be near weapons of mass destruction” – demonstrates “the common belief that gay identity has no bearing on nuclear policy.”

The rest of the article appears to be an attempt to correct that belief.

Nair and Reitman emphasized that:

We want Bulletin readers to understand that visible representation and meaningful participation of queer people is critical to nuclear policy outcomes; discrimination against queer people can undermine nuclear safety and increase nuclear risks; and queer theory can help change how nuclear practitioners, experts, and the public think about nuclear weapons.

They say non-heterosexuals have unique insights and “special skills”, such as empathy, that could help them make decisions about nuclear weapons.

Including more non-heterosexuals and women in the policy community could help curb groupthink and even undermine “the perpetuation of theories of deterrence and crisis stability.”

“Queering” the nuclear field could relieve minority officials of some of the “enormous psychological stress” that previously accompanied making decisions about world-ending weapons.

“A Biden/Kamala administration is a danger to the entire country and to sanity itself.”

The Biden-Harris administration official and DEI co-authors noted that the premise is that non-straight workers have unique perspectives and special skill sets, and that their “exclusion creates nuclear security risks.”

Biden-Harris administration officials and Lightman further suggested that “queer theory,” a radical offshoot of feminist theory, could not only be useful in the field of nuclear weapons but could help inform “how government officials, experts, and the public think about nuclear weapons.”

For example, if a foreign adversary appears to be preparing an intercontinental ballistic missile attack on the U.S. mainland, Nair would like U.S. officials considering the possibility of a preemptive nuclear strike to also consider “whose experience is being excluded.”

“Queer theory also rejects either-or and zero-sum thinking, such as the dogma that nuclear deterrence creates security and disarmament creates vulnerability,” the article states. “By telling hidden stories of displacement, illness, and trauma caused by the production and testing of nuclear weapons, queer theory can help to challenge the perception of nuclear weapons as a means to security.”

Shortly after the article was published, Nair co-authored a policy paper.
Assert “Developing a DEI nuclear security culture is not only a sustainable solution to these long-standing challenges, but it is also critical to strengthening the nuclear security community’s ability to identify and mitigate threats in a changing national security environment.”

Conservative film director Robbie Starbuck was one of many critics who responded to the recently resurfaced stories. Tweet“A Biden/Kamala administration is a danger to the entire country and to sanity itself.”

“As I’ve said all along, DEI is nothing more than a Trojan horse aimed at enforcing left-wing values across the board,” Starbuck continued. “Once fully entrenched in power, there’s no going back for decades. Countering and eliminating this virus should be the actual national security goal. Oh yeah, China is laughing at us.”

Struck a pose An online question: “Can someone explain to me what ‘queer theory’ has to do with stewardship of nuclear energy?”

The Biden-Harris DOE appears to have attracted several LGBT extremists in recent years.

Samuel Brinton, a nuclear engineer who ran a “Physics of Kink” class and had a habit of wearing women’s clothing, was deputy assistant secretary for spent fuel and waste management in the Department of Energy’s Office of Nuclear Energy. He recently Pleaded guilty He is charged with theft for allegedly stealing a woman’s belongings.
