During an online hearing on Friday, lawyers for Adams (DN.Y) called the case “fictitious” and denied the possibility of a settlement, sparking a tense exchange that included plaintiffs’ lawyers threatening defamation suits.

The lawsuit was brought by Lorna Beach, who claims Adams assaulted her in 1993 while she was employed by the New York Police Department (NYPD).

Friday’s hearing focused on disputes over evidence, with the defense accusing the plaintiffs of delaying the case.

The judge has scheduled Beach to testify on Sept. 6.Number.
