After receiving backlash for recently liking a post about Donald Trump’s 2024 presidential election policies, Brittany Mahomes posted a scathing message on Instagram, calling her “haters” immature adults.
The Kansas City Chiefs quarterback’s wife defended herself in an Instagram Story on Friday, about 10 days after she stamped a little red heart icon on President Trump’s post.
“Let’s be honest,” Mahomes wrote in the article, “if you still feel hate as an adult, you must have some deep-seated issues from childhood that you’re refusing to heal.”
“If your own brain is fully developed, there’s no reason to be put off by seeing other people doing well.”
Mahomes, 28, did not say what the “haters” were accusing him of, but his retaliation appeared to come in response to criticism he received for supporting President Trump’s social media posts.

While there was no criticism on Mahomes’ own social media accounts, indicating she may have removed all negative comments from her posts, she received a lot of backlash about X.
“Brittany Mahomes has made it public that she is a Trump supporter,” one person wrote.
“I don’t understand why someone with children would vote for a known child rapist and felon. Someone like Brittany Mahomes would probably prioritize tax cuts over the safety of their children,” another said.
“Patrick Mahomes, imagine marrying someone who doesn’t care about your rights or the rights of your children. Brittany Mahomes supports Project 2025 yet is married to a black man with biracial children, that’s insane,” one post read.
Mahomes later appeared to remove the like from the post, and she was no longer following the Republican presidential candidate as of Friday night.
The social media kerfuffle comes just months after Mahomes’ NFL superstar husband made headlines by refusing to join the presidential race.
“I don’t want to pressure anyone to vote for a particular president,” he told Time magazine in April.
