Ben Affleck reportedly “had control” over a documentary about Jennifer Lopez’s marriage.
insider told people It turns out the “Gone Girl” actor was heavily involved in the making of the “I’m Real” singer’s Prime Video documentary, “The Greatest Love Story Never Told.”
“He was essentially in charge,” a source told media about the project in February.
“[Affleck] I was very in favor [of the project]and he [Lopez] “He suggested making a movie and an album but she insisted on making a documentary. He seemed hesitant, almost surprised,” the source added.
“But that was a false narrative.”
A source close to the estranged couple told Page Six that the documentary was the idea of Affleck’s company, Artists Equity, and that Lopez’s team was initially reluctant to make it because she was focused on her ninth studio album, “This Is Me… Now,” and its associated video projects.
A source told People magazine that the “Good Will Hunting” star: [Lopez] “I was involved in the production of movies and albums” and “knew what I was doing, every step of the way.”
“He loved the movie and the album but when you watch the documentary he seems surprised and didn’t want to be a part of it. He was playing a regular guy but was also the driving force behind it,” the source said, adding that Affleck “wrested the role from the director and put the story he wanted out there.”
The “Selena” actress, 55, and Affleck, 52, sparked rumors of a breakup three months after the documentary’s release.
After months of speculation and rumors, Lopez filed for divorce from the father of three on August 20 after two years of marriage.
The pop star listed April 26 as the date of separation, but Page Six has learned their marriage has been on the way since March.
Lopez cited irreconcilable differences as the reason for the split.
A friend of the mother-of-two exclusively told Page Six that she did all she could to save her marriage, but there was a “dark side” to Affleck.
Though the estranged couple spent much of the summer apart, the “Argo” star has been making new friends.
A Hollywood source exclusively told Page Six that Affleck has been spending time with Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s 36-year-old daughter, Kick Kennedy, during his separation from Lopez.
The two were recently spotted hanging out at the Polo Lounge at the Beverly Hills Hotel and other popular spots.
Lopez, meanwhile, has been keeping a low profile since filing for divorce. On Saturday, she reposted a sexy selfie of herself from a fan page to her Instagram Story.
