Beetlejuice Beetlejuice Star Jenna Ortega said she deleted her Twitter account after receiving explicit AI images of herself as a minor.
“I hate AI,” Ortega says said The New York Times“Did you, at 14, create a Twitter account because you had to and enjoy looking at salacious edited content of yourself as a child? No. It’s horrifying. It’s corrupting. It’s wrong.”
The 21-year-old actress said she was 12 years old when she first received inappropriate content on Twitter.
“The first DM [direct message] “The first time I exposed myself was with an unsolicited photo of a man’s genitals when I was 12 years old, and that was just the beginning of what was to come,” Ortega said.
“I used to have a Twitter account but people said, ‘Oh, you should give it a go and build up your image.’ I got inundated after the show ended so I deleted it a couple of years ago. [Netflix’s Wednesday] “I was already in a state of turmoil when these ridiculous images and photos came out so I just deleted it,” she added.
She added: “It was disgusting, it made me feel bad, it made me feel uncomfortable.”
“Anyway, that’s why I deleted it, because there was nothing I could say without seeing that stuff,” Ortega added, “So I woke up one day and I was like, ‘Oh, I don’t need this anymore,’ so I got rid of it.”
Notably, shortly after Ortega deleted his Twitter account, the social media platform was acquired by Elon Musk and eventually changed its name to X.
In other parts of the interview, Scream VI The actress also acknowledged that there are examples of AI being used in “incredible” and “beautiful” ways.
“AI could be used for incredible things,” she says. “I think I saw a story the other day about artificial intelligence being able to detect breast cancer four years before it progresses. Amazing. Let’s just leave it at that.”
Earlier this month, Ortega said everyone in Hollywood “want to be politically correct,” which he said has caused people in the industry to “lose a lot of their humanity and integrity” because being politically correct “is not integrity.”
