Slipknot’s Syd Wilson was rushed to hospital with “severe burns” all over his body after being caught in a bonfire “explosion” at a farm in Iowa on Friday.
The musician, who is in a relationship with British singer Kelly Osbourne, publicly announced the incident in a video from his hospital bed but assured fans he was “OK”.
An Instagram video showed Wilson lying in a hospital bed as medical staff treated wounds to his face and arms.
The 47-year-old told the camera: “Hey guys, there was an explosion in my face. I’m OK, I’m going to be OK, but I’ve got some pretty bad burns on my face and arms.”
The heavy metal band said in a statement that despite his injury, Wilson plans to join the band for next weekend’s performance at the Rocklahoma Festival in London. Evening Standard Reports.
He later posted a follow-up video of himself on his way to a more specialized facility, assuring fans that he was “doing pretty well” and was “in good hands with doctors.”
He also explained that he had sustained injuries caused by debris from a bonfire he had lit on the farm the previous night.
Osbourne, the daughter of TV star Sharon and Black Sabbath singer Ozzy Osbourne, also warned of the dangers of the incinerator in a video posted from the hospital next door.
She said: “So don’t mess around with incinerators. He literally set himself on fire and blew everything up.”
Slipknot will embark on a world tour in September, performing in the US and South America before heading to Europe.
