Speaker Johnson: Harris is only person US adversaries fear less than Biden

House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-Louisiana) on Monday criticized Vice President Harris’ foreign policy skills, saying she doesn’t inspire fear in our adversaries abroad.

“The only person that our opponents are less afraid of than Joe Biden is Kamala Harris,” Johnson said in an interview with Brian Kilmeade on “Fox & Friends,” saying that’s true “whether it’s domestic issues or foreign affairs.”

“Imagine if she were commander in chief of the United States military in these perilous times,” Johnson continued. “These are the most perilous times since World War II, Brian. We can’t afford that.”

Johnson, on the other hand, argued that former President Trump was a feared figure on the world stage and therefore the right person to lead the country.

“We need to have Donald Trump in the White House,” Johnson said. “He’s someone the American people fear and respect.”

The Hill has reached out to the Harris campaign for response.

Trump and his allies have frequently touted his aggressive and sometimes unpredictable approach to foreign policy, saying U.S. adversaries fear the consequences of defying him.

Trump has previously claimed that Russia would not have invaded Ukraine if he were president, and has suggested conflict in the Middle East could have been avoided if he were in charge.

But Democrats have repeatedly criticized Trump for his close ties to authoritarian leaders, including Russian President Vladimir Putin and Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban, whom Trump invited to his Mar-a-Lago resort last month.

US allies have also expressed concern about the former president’s isolationist policies.

Trump has threatened to not defend European allies that don’t pay enough for their own defenses, a point of contention for NATO, the Western security alliance, and promised to end the war in Ukraine before taking office, raising concerns about whether he can do so without ceding territory to Russia.

Recently, he said Taiwan should pay for its defense.
