Former Hawaii Democratic Representative Tulsi Gabbard voiced her support for Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump at a National Guard conference in Michigan on Monday.

“I will do everything in my power to return President Trump to the White House to serve us again as commander in chief,” she said.
“I think President Trump understands the great responsibility that he has as president for the lives of each and every one of us, whether we’re soldiers, airmen, Marines or Coast Guardsmen, he makes decisions with us in mind,” she continued. “We [his] During his first term as president, he not only did not start a new war, he also defused it. [end] War. …As we move toward a national decision in November, [said] About Kamala Harris.”
For a variety of reasons, Gabbard became disillusioned with the Democratic Party, which led her to leave the party in 2021.
“I can no longer remain in today’s Democratic Party, which is driven by a cowardly wokeness and is entirely controlled by an elitist cabal that racializes every issue and divides us by stoking racism against white people,” Gabbard wrote in the 2022 post.
“I believe in a government of the people, by the people and for the people. Unfortunately, the current Democratic Party does not do that. Instead, they advocate for a government of the powerful elites, by the powerful elites and for the powerful elites,” she added. “I am calling on all decent, independent-minded Democrats to join me in leaving the Democratic Party.”
Gabbard has also been working with Trump ahead of an upcoming debate with Vice President Kamala Harris, a former Hawaii senator who was publicly and scathingly critical of Harris during the 2019 Democratic presidential primary debates, criticizing her record as a California prosecutor.
“After she sent over 1,500 people to prison for marijuana violations, she laughed when asked if she’d ever smoked marijuana,” Gabbard said in a now-viral debate video.
