Reza Diako Hints at the ‘Chaos’ of Season 5’s Holy Week in ‘The Chosen’

Reza Diaco, who plays disciple Philip on the Christian series “The Chosen,” recently alluded to some “turmoil” that is expected to occur during Holy Week in the upcoming fifth season.

“Season 5 is very different,” Diaco told Collider in a recent interview. “Season 4, to me, is the season where Philip deals with old trauma. He was chasing this father figure, John the Baptist, so his father's death was a little painful for him. But in season 5, he's like, 'Oh, I get it, so I've dealt with that pain, and now when I get to the city, it's time to honor this divine father.'”

Meanwhile, Philip's entry into Jerusalem will likely be short-lived due to Holy Week festivities.

“But unfortunately, things have changed drastically and things have changed dramatically.”

He went on to explain that season five will focus on Philip's struggle to survive in the midst of the intensity of events.

Diaco also spoke about the challenges of playing Philip throughout the season, including the adversity his character faces.

“He's faced with so much turmoil, it's almost too much for him to digest,” Diaco said. “He goes into survival mode, and it's like he's reaching out to John the Baptist in heaven and saying, 'Hey, can you just give me all your wisdom at once?'”

As The Chosen depicts Holy Week, Diaco emphasizes the weight and importance of the storyline that unfolds.

“Jesus tells him that he's going to die too, and, well, we'll just wait and see how he reacts,” Diaco teased.

Philip's role in The Chosen season 5 will be key to the unfolding drama, and as Crosswalk previously reported, Judas' betrayal is also set to happen.
