Sid Vicious’ son reveals dad’s health scares after WWE legend’s death

The son of WWE legend Sid Vicious has detailed the health issues his father, real name Sid Eudy, had before his death at age 63, which was announced on Monday.

Posted by Gunnar Eudy on facebook On Tuesday morning, he announced that his father had been diagnosed with stage 4 non-Hodgkin's lymphoma in April 2021, five years after being diagnosed with congestive heart failure and atrial fibrillation.

“Syd never told anyone about his battle with cancer, but lived life to the fullest – hitting the gym, taking boxing classes, performing for fans and of course playing t-ball matches for kids,” Gunnar wrote. “My dad passed away peacefully in his bed, leaving behind a legacy of strength and determination. I have never met anyone with his strength – he was truly one of a kind.

“Thank you everyone for the encouraging words and love. We certainly feel it. We've received thousands of messages and appreciate every single one of them. I don't have time to reply but I've read them all, thank you, thank you, thank you!”

Sid Vicious, also known as Sid Justice and Psycho Sid, was a wrestler in what were then known as WWF and WCW in the 1990s, winning the world championship twice for each organization and being a part of Ric Flair's famous Four Horsemen.

He competed in the main event of WrestleMania 8, losing to Hulk Hogan, and lost the World title to The Undertaker at WrestleMania 13.

One of Eudy's signature moments came when he defeated Shawn Michaels in the main event of the 1996 Survivor Series at Madison Square Garden to win the WWF title, to the delight of a crowd that was fully supportive of him despite his villain status at the time.

“I am saddened to learn of the passing of Syd Eudy,” Michaels wrote on X on Monday. “He will never be forgotten, and it is impossible to overstate the role he played in the creation of The Heartbreak Kid. His work, legacy and influence will inspire our business for generations to come.”
