Former President Donald Trump announced Tuesday that he and Vice President Kamala Harris have agreed to the same rules that were applied in the first debate with President Joe Biden.
Despite previously declaring that she was “done with the debate debate,” the Harris campaign had been lobbying for some changes to be made to the debate. Not muting the microphone when the other candidate was speaking was one of the changes the campaign wanted to make. The rule was enacted at the urging of the Biden campaign.
“I have reached an agreement with the Radical Left Democrats for a debate with Comrade Kamala Harris. The debate will be broadcast live on Tuesday, September 10th in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on the meanest, most unfair news anchors in the business, ABC Fake News. The rules will be the same as the last CNN debate and it seems to have worked well for everyone, except maybe the unscrupulous Joe Biden,” Trump posted on Truth Social.
“Trump needs to stop hiding behind the mute button.”
The debate will take place in Philadelphia on September 10th.
“The debate will be 'stand-up' and candidates will not be allowed to bring notes or 'cheat sheets', and we have been assured by ABC that it will be a 'fair and fair' debate and neither side will know the questions in advance (no Donna Brazile!),” he continued. “While Harris did not agree to the FoxNews debate on September 4th, we are leaving that date open in case she changes her mind or even reverses, as she has done one by one, on every one of her long-held policy beliefs. A possible third debate hosted by NBC Fake News has not been agreed to by the Radical Left. God bless America!”
Harris' campaign continued to demand that her microphone be unmuted on Monday, trying to provoke Trump into agreeing with them.
Brian Fallon, senior communications adviser to the Harris campaign, posted on X: “Trump should reject attempts by his entourage to silence him by muting his microphone. The VP is ready to debate Trump live, uncensored. Trump needs to stop hiding behind the mute button.”
