Philadelphia police say child as young as 10, among 2 sought in armed carjackings

Philadelphia police are asking the public for help identifying two young, armed carjackers, one of whom investigators say is around 10 years old.

Police have released video of a suspect who allegedly committed four carjackings at gunpoint in North Philadelphia between Aug. 16 and Aug. 22.

The first incident occurred just before 10 p.m. on Aug. 16, when two suspects approached a victim who was sitting outside in his car on Girard Street. Police say the suspects, armed with handguns, approached on foot and stole the man's vehicle.

Police allege that around 2 a.m. on Aug. 18, the two suspects approached another man who was sitting in a car on West Cumberland Street.

The suspects were believed to have been armed with handguns when they stole the man's car and were seen on camera walking towards Cumberland Street.

The third incident happened on West Ontario Street around 4:45 a.m. on Aug. 21. Police say the victim was sitting in a parked car when suspects approached the vehicle, banged on the window with a handgun and stole the vehicle.

Police added that the suspects caused a car crash on Allegheny Street and then stole the vehicle of the third victim after taking the vehicle in the second incident.

Police say that around 6 a.m. on August 22, a 74-year-old woman was walking to her car when she was approached by two suspects. The suspects then allegedly pushed her to the ground and stole her keys and purse. Police also say one of the suspects had a semi-automatic handgun.

One of the suspects is described as a 17-year-old boy, 5 feet 8 inches tall.

Police say the second suspect is a black male, approximately 10 to 12 years old, 4 feet 8 inches tall with bushy hair.

Police are urging the public if they see the suspect to not approach him and to call 911 immediately.
