Independent presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. withdrew from the South Carolina race. State Election Commission.
The Confederacy Party of South Carolina Tuesday's Press Release The association's executive committee voted Monday night to withdraw Robert F. Kennedy Jr.'s nomination for U.S. president.
“While the party wishes Mr. Kennedy success, the South Carolina Alliance Party and its candidates are committed to providing voters with options different from those offered by the Democrats and Republicans,” Keisha Long, the group's chairwoman, said in a statement.
Kennedy's withdrawal follows her decision last weekend to suspend her campaign and endorse former President Trump. She said her name would remain on the ballot in most Democratic- and Republican-leaning states, but would be removed in battleground states.
“Through their actions, principles and policies, our candidates nominated for elected office are selling themselves as alternatives to the choices offered by the two major political parties, and 71 percent of Americans say they would like to see a third-party option offered,” Long said in a statement. “We and our candidates remain committed to achieving that goal with candidates who will run to the finish.”
Kennedy also accompanied Trump to a rally in Arizona on Friday after he announced he was suspending his campaign activities.
“I'm very pleased to welcome tonight someone who has been an incredible defender of many of the values that we all share and have long held in common,” Trump said as he introduced Kennedy at the rally.
