More Americans believe Vice President Harris is more likely to take the White House in November than former President Trump. According to New poll.
of Yahoo!News/YouGov PollA poll released Tuesday found that 39% of Americans say the vice president is “likely to win” the election, with 69 days to go, compared with about 36% who said the former president was likely to win this fall's election.
Harris' rise to the top of the Democratic presidential field after President Biden endorsed her out of office last month has generated a lot of enthusiasm and energy for Democrats, mainly because they see her as more capable than Biden of winning this year's election.
But a new poll found that 25 percent were unsure whether Harris or Trump would win the next presidential election.
Asked whether their party's nominee was fit for the Oval Office, 50% said Harris was, while 47% said the same about Trump. About 37% said the vice president was unfit for the presidency, and 47% said the former president was, according to the poll.
About 22% of respondents said they were unsure whether Harris was fit to be president, and 8% said the same about Trump.
In The Hill/Decision Desk average of national polls, Vice President Harris has a four-point lead over former President Trump, with 49.5 percent approval and 45.5 percent approval.
Trump and Harris are scheduled to face off in a debate on ABC News in the coming weeks, and the former president had recently questioned whether he would take part in the debate, but said Tuesday that he had “reached an agreement” with Harris' campaign, likely.
The Yahoo News/YouGov poll was conducted among 1,788 people from Aug. 22-26 and has a margin of error of 2.7 percentage points.
