Zelensky to present peace plan to Biden, Harris, Trump

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said Tuesday that he would eventually present a peace plan to President Biden, current White House nominee Vice President Harris and former President Trump.

Speaking at a press conference in the Ukrainian capital, Kiev, President Zelensky outlined a four-stage plan, saying Russia's invasion of the Kursk region was the first step.

“The second direction is Ukraine's strategic position in the global security infrastructure,” Zelenskyy said. CNN“The third direction is a strong package to force Russia to end the war through diplomatic means, and the fourth direction is economic.”

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said he plans to attend the United Nations General Assembly in New York in September. He plans to meet with Biden during the session and announce his plan. With the uncertainty over who will win the 2024 election, Zelensky said he plans to communicate his plan to both Republican nominee Trump and Democratic nominee Harris.

According to Colonel-General Oleksandr Shirsky, the surprise invasion of Ukraine that began earlier this month has forced Russia to divert forces from parts of eastern Ukraine to the Kursk region.

Ukrainian military commander-in-chief Gen. Syrsky claimed the quiet counteroffensive had led Russian forces to send 30,000 troops into the Kursk region — a figure The Hill could not independently verify. Syrsky added that Ukrainian forces had seized about 500 miles of Russian territory in Kursk.

Despite Ukrainian advances into Russia, President Vladimir Putin said his country's forces would continue the offensive in Donetsk, where Russian pressure has forced evacuations in Pokrovsk and Tretsk, and a possible full takeover would strengthen the country's foothold in the eastern Donbas.
