Biden chills on Delaware beach during marathon vacation — after vowing to finish out strong

Wait, he's still in charge.

President Biden was spotted relaxing on a Delaware beach on Wednesday during his second consecutive holiday away from the White House.

The 81-year-old spent about two hours on Delaware's North Shore near Rehoboth Beach with first lady Jill Biden and two of her sisters.

He was wearing a colorful swimsuit, a white T-shirt and a black hat and appeared relaxed as he sat in a beach chair looking over some documents.

It's been almost 10 days since the president entered the Oval Office, despite insisting he would finish out the remaining months of his term by continuing to push through his policies.

Biden left the White House on August 19 for the Democratic National Convention, where he delivered an impassioned speech on the first night of the four-day convention and nominated Vice President Kamala Harris as the party's nominee.

He skipped spending the remaining three days of the main party in Chicago, instead flying to Santa Ynez, California, to stay at the $37 million mansion of Joe Kiani, CEO of medical technology company Masimo.

Biden's vacation at the billionaire donor's lavish ranch ended Sunday when he flew to Rehoboth Beach, where he has a vacation home and plans to stay until at least Friday, as scheduled by the White House.

Biden is scheduled to campaign with Harris in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, on Labor Day, marking their first joint campaign appearance since being named as running mates.

The DNC was expected to be a grand ceremony to appoint Biden as the party's standard-bearer in the 2024 presidential election.

But Biden's missteps in a debate with former President Donald Trump sparked a rebellion among Democrats and derailed those plans with his shock announcement on July 21 that he was withdrawing.

Since the shock announcement, the president has maintained a low profile and appears to be spending roughly three-quarters of his time outside the White House, including stays at Camp David, the presidential retreat in Maryland.

There has been speculation that Biden has kept a low public profile because he is angry at Democrats who oppose him, such as former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.).

“Many of my Democratic colleagues in the House and Senate thought I would hurt them in the campaign and were worried that if I continued to run, I would be interviewed about why Nancy Pelosi said this,” he said. [something] … And I thought that would be a real distraction,” Biden said on “CBS News Sunday Morning” earlier this month.

Pelosi did not join dozens of Democrats who have publicly urged her to surrender, but some of her tactics are raising public eyebrows.

That included an appearance on MSNBC's “Morning Joe,” rumored to be one of Biden's favorite political shows, in which Pelosi suggested Biden was undecided about whether he would continue campaigning, despite the president's “firm commitment” to Congress two days earlier.

Pelosi Behind the Scenes Reportedly He grilled Biden and several of his aides about the feasibility of his candidacy.

“Sometimes you have to take the punches for your kids,” Pelosi told CNN in response to a question about Biden's involvement in the decision.

“No, I haven't spoken to her. No one made my decision except for me. No one knew this was going to happen,” Biden told reporters after leaving the convention.

Since Biden's announcement, Harris' favorability ratings have soared, making the race between her and Trump more intense.

The vice president, who still describes himself as “the underdog,” was set to kick off a bus tour in Savannah, Georgia, on Wednesday.

She is scheduled to give an interview to CNN in her first major televised interview since winning the nomination, which will air on Thursday.
