Employees at Wells Fargo's headquarters in Tempe, Arizona, are suing the company after a worker was found dead at her desk on August 20, alleging the company did not adequately respond.
Police said they were called to the office by building security after receiving a report of an unconscious employee.
“It would make me sick to hear her sitting at her desk like that.”
Dennis Prudhomme, 60, was found dead on his desk.
Police said only that they found no suspicious evidence connected to her death, without providing any other details.
The person involved did not want to be identified. He told KPNX-TV The incident was extremely disturbing.
“It's really heartbreaking and you think, 'What if I just sat there and no one came to check on me?'” the employee said.
Prudhomme's boss emailed her but did not respond, the people said.
“So they went to check where she was sitting and that's when they found her body,” the official said.
A Wells Fargo spokesperson released a statement about the incident:
We are deeply saddened by the tragic loss of a colleague in our Tempe office. Our hearts go out to his family and loved ones during this difficult time. Counselors are available to support employees through our Employee Assistance Consulting services.
The spokesman also said the bank was cooperating with police investigations.
“It makes me sick to hear that she was sitting at her desk like that,” the employee said, “and no one did anything. That's how she spent her final moments.”
