Harris cuts Trump's lead in Sun Belt states: Fox News poll

According to a Fox News poll, Vice President Harris is currently leading former President Trump in three of four key Sun Belt states. Released Wednesday night.

Overall, Harris leads Trump by one percentage point (48 percent approval, 47 percent disapproval) among all respondents surveyed in Arizona, Georgia, Nevada and North Carolina.

She also leads the Republican candidate by one point in Arizona (48 percent to 47 percent), two points in Georgia (48 percent to 46 percent), and two points in Nevada (48 percent to 46 percent).

Meanwhile, in North Carolina, Trump leads Harris by one point with 48% approval rating to her 47%.

All survey results are within sampling error.

The new poll shows a striking reversal in voter preference trends when compared to surveys conducted before Biden left office and Harris became the Democratic nominee.

Earlier Fox News polls had Biden trailing Trump in all four states in head-to-head races.

In Arizona, Harris improved on Biden's past support by six points, but she still trails Trump in the state by five points (46 percent to 41 percent). In a June 2024 poll.

In Georgia, Trump led Biden by 8 points, while Biden had a 6 point lead (51% to 45%). In an April 2024 poll.

Harris's approval rating increased by 7 points in Nevada, where Trump had a 5-point lead over Biden (50 percent to 45 percent) in a June poll.

Trump still has a slight lead over Harris in North Carolina, but Harris has still narrowed the gap to just four points. February 2024Trump led Biden in the state by five points (50 percent to 45 percent).

The poll comes amid a wave of enthusiasm for Harris since she became the top Democratic candidate, and Democrats are hoping that enthusiasm will continue into the election, especially in these key battleground states.

Following the latest data, the Trump campaign slammed Fox News' polling as “terrible” and said the organization has a “terrible track record.”

The Hill has reached out to Fox News for a response.

The new poll was conducted Aug. 23-26, 2024, among 4,053 registered voters in four states. The overall sample margin of error is 1.5 percentage points, with an individual state margin of error of 3 percentage points.
