Brittany Mahomes says advice from her husband, Chiefs star quarterback Patrick Mahomes, has helped her stop worrying about negativity on social media.
Recent “WHOOP” podcastThe Sports Illustrated Swimsuit model fired back at “haters” after making headlines for liking a political post by Donald Trump. On Instagram — The three-time Super Bowl champion explained that she's been able to handle the fame and attention.
“I think one thing he always told me was, 'Don't worry about what people think, especially people who don't know you,'” says Brittany, who is currently pregnant with her third child.
“Social media used to bother me a lot,” Brittany added, spelling out the four-letter expletive, “I don't care what people say about me anymore.”
“And I think that because he helped me, I was able to be myself. I was able to be confident in myself, I was able to be confident in my relationship with him, and I was able to be confident in our life together. So why does it matter what other people say?”
Earlier, Will Ahmed, podcast host and founder and CEO of WHOOP, a fitness and sleep tracking device and app, said that Brittany and Mahomes, both 28, knew each other before they were famous.
“I think we were kind of thrown into the fire together and I think that helped us do well in life. [have] “We did it together,” she said. “He's a lot better at it than I am, because his dad [former MLB pitcher Pat Mahomes Sr.] He was a professional athlete, so he knew a lot more about the subject and had a much deeper understanding of it than I did.
“So having him help me out was a big help because he's so good at managing those things and blocking people and doing all that kind of stuff. So having him around and guiding me and coaching me was a big help and I think that's why we got to where we are now.”
Elsewhere on the podcast, Brittany gushed about the life she and Patrick have built together.
“When we first started dating [we] “I never thought it would happen but I'm so happy it did and we're already enjoying life together,” she said.
The high school sweethearts, who are co-owners of the NWSL's KC Current, married in March 2022 in Hawaii.
The two began dating when Mahomes was a sophomore and she was a junior at Whitehouse High School in Texas.
Along the way, Brittany and Mahomes welcomed a 3-year-old daughter, Sterling, and a son, Bronze, who will turn 2 in November.
The couple revealed in July that they are expecting another baby girl.
