Billionaire John Paulson's pregnant fiance, fitness influencer Alina de Almeida, is now entitled to a share of his $5.1 billion fortune, but his wife isn't happy about it.
Jenny Paulson's lawyers claim in new court documents that the pregnancy is part of a scheme to give de Almedia, 36, access to “marital assets” and put the new baby “at odds” with the Paulsons' two daughters.
The couple also revealed that their daughters, both of whom are college students, only found out that de Almeida was pregnant when Paulson, 68, texted him a link to the Page Six exclusive announcement last month.
It's a familiar story: The Paulsons have been embroiled in a bitter divorce since Jenny, now 53, learned on Page Six in 2021 that her husband was trying to end their 21-year marriage to marry de Almeida. He then proposed to the fitness influencer while they were still married.
Paulson, a hedge fund investor with billions of dollars, is fighting to dismiss Janet's legal challenges to expose trusts hiding his money, calling it a “selfish graft” and labelling Janet “greedy”.
Sources close to Paulson claimed that he told his daughters about the pregnancy before texting them the Page Six article.
Jenny's legal team, led by high-powered divorce lawyer Robert Cohen, filed an amendment to her current complaint this week.
Earlier this month, de Almeida told Page Six that she and Paulson were “very excited” about the news of their arrival.
“This is something we've planned. It wasn't really a surprise. We've been together for three years and I've always wanted to have a family and I know John will be a great father,” she added.
Jenny's amended complaint alleges that it's precisely that family planning that is the problem: “Mr. Paulson has now unilaterally taken actions to expand the scope of planned beneficiaries to include children born to women outside of marriage, creating a situation in which the terms of the trusts may allow the mothers of those children to also seek distributions from the trusts.”
A source close to the case told Page Six: “Could Mr. Paulson or his girlfriend have been thinking, as part of what she called a 'plan' to conceive, that having a child out of wedlock during divorce proceedings might provide his girlfriend with a financial benefit?”
According to the lawsuit, Paulson violated the Domestic Relations Act (family law governing relationships within the home) by starting a new family while still married to Jenny.
“Transferring marital assets to someone outside the marriage, including a new partner, is the very definition of a breach of the Domestic Relations Act,” the document states.
The lawsuit also alleges that “by adding additional beneficiaries and allowing a new girlfriend, with whom Mr. Paulson had no legal relationship, to claim distributions from the trust on the new beneficiaries' behalf, Mr. Paulson further created discord and pitted his children from the marriage against his future children and his girlfriend.”
Paulson's lawyer, Marilyn Chinitz, said in a statement to Page Six:
“Despite remaining one of the richest women in the world after this divorce, Jenny is humiliated that her daughters are wealthier than her as a result of irrevocable trusts established for their children, and she continues to try to take money from them to increase her own wealth…John has moved forward in his personal life and would like Jenny to do the same rather than continuing to engage in pointless litigation for years.
“This trust will ensure security for John and Jenny's daughters and their future children for generations to come. That will never change.”
