Wells Fargo employee found dead in office 4 days after scanning in to building

A Wells Fargo employee arrived at work Friday morning and was found dead at his desk, but his body wasn't discovered until four days later, Arizona State Police officials said.

Dennis Prudhomme, 60, was found collapsed in his private office at the bank's main offices in Tempe on Tuesday, August 20.

Police say she used her ID to gain entry into the building at 7 a.m. on Aug. 16.

“It makes me sick to hear that she's sitting at her desk like that,” the Wells Fargo employee said. K12News, NBC affiliate“And nobody did anything. Those were her final moments.”

According to the media outlet, several employees had complained of a foul odor when they returned to work after the weekend, but the complaints were dismissed as being due to faulty plumbing.

Another employee said a coworker was walking through the building when he found Prudhomme dead at his desk inside his cubicle, according to K12 News.

The security guard then called the police.

Authorities have not disclosed the cause of Prudhomme's death but have said a preliminary investigation showed no signs of foul play.

The investigation is ongoing.

There were security guards in the building and workers were outraged that they should have found Prudhomme sooner.

“That's the scary part. That's the worry,” one employee told K12 News. “It's negligence on some level.”

Wells Fargo did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

The company issued a statement to several other news outlets saying it was “deeply saddened by the tragic death of our colleague” and that it would provide counselors to support office employees.

The company said it is cooperating with Tempe police in their investigation.
