Big Tech companies with the fastest (and slowest) hiring processes

Getting a job at a big tech company can be a lengthy process, with many facing stiff competition and rigorous screening. For those up for the challenge, new data shows how long it can take for you to get through the hiring process at various big tech companies after joining the company.

a Recent Research The report, released by Career.io, ranked the top 100 companies in the US based on the average time it takes from a candidate's first interview to an offer, with Uber and Amazon coming out on top in the technology sector with the fastest turnaround times at 9.34 days and 10.11 days, respectively.

But the data includes all types of workers, not just technical occupations like software engineers, which helped propel both the ride-sharing giant and the nation's largest delivery service to the top of the list.

“Uber and Amazon both have a reputation for being flexible when it comes to hiring,” Amanda Augustine, a career expert at careers.io, told Fox Business. “Their speed in hiring drivers and warehouse workers has led to an expedited interview process, highlighting the work priorities of the tech industry.”

Popular video streaming service Netflix came in third with a hiring turnaround period of 14.23 days, followed by AI chip maker Nvidia (15.69 days) and electric car maker Tesla (17.25 days).

However, Augustine noted that “some well-known companies move at a slower pace.”

The company with the longest hiring process is Oracle, where successful candidates can expect it to take an average of 25.25 days from interview to receiving a job offer. The second-slowest hiring process is Apple, at 22.05 days, according to the study.

“Oracle and Apple have more rigorous interview processes than their competitors, which may signal a need to secure top industry talent while maintaining the innovative edge necessary for technology leadership,” Augustin explained.

The third-longest hiring process is Salesforce at 21.69 days, followed closely by Adobe at 21.34 days. Notoriously picky Google has the fifth-slowest hiring process at 20.74 days.

“Candidates have to wait 20+ days while they're tested on both their technical and behavioral abilities before securing a job at Google,” Augustine says, “and because it's Google, interviewers like to throw a few curveballs to identify candidates who can think outside the box.”
