Caitlin Clark has demonstrated an uncanny ability to seamlessly adapt to any eventuality on the basketball court. What about the eventuality of a press conference?
Not much.
On Wednesday night, the Fever beat the Connecticut Sun, who are ranked atop the Eastern Conference standings, 84-80. After the game, Clark's teammate, Lexi Hull, tried to tell reporters she had been trying to influence the game, but her explanation for her efforts was, well, suggestive.
“So [I was] “I just tried to be as active as I could and get as many balls as I could,” Hull said.
Clark and teammate Kelsey Mitchell quickly lost their cool as a suddenly embarrassed Hull tried to recover by laughing.
“Yeah, Lex,” came Clark's voice.
X users joined in the laughter.
The fun team moments at the press conference reflected the fun of putting a good team together. Clark was impressive but did not dominate in the win. Kelsey Mitchell led the team in points (23) and Hull led the team in rebounds with eight.
On Friday, the Fever will face Angel Reese and the rival Chicago Sky.
