Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg shocked the world with a 180-degree turn on the issue of government control over virtual platforms, after in 2018 he was vehemently opposed to government abuse of power.
But now…not so much.
in Recent Letters Speaking to House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan (R-Ohio), the tech mogul accused the Biden administration of “repeatedly pressuring” Meta in 2021 to censor COVID-19-related posts and squash the “Laptop from Hell” story about Hunter Biden.
With Donald Trump's return to power looking increasingly likely, there are rumors that Zuckerberg may be seeking to work with Trump.
Is the tech giant's sudden change of heart genuine, or is it simply pivoting to adapt to changing political conditions?

“it was every “Social media censorship went beyond removing COVID stories and Hunter Biden conversations from the internet,” Pat points out, correcting him to say that social media censorship went beyond just expressing opposing views.
But despite being asked point-blank whether the administration was pressuring social media companies to stifle free speech, Jen Psaki, Biden's press secretary at the time, said, “We're not stifling anything, we're not blocking anything. Our case is that there is information that is causing people not to get the vaccine, and people are dying as a result. And we have a responsibility to raise that issue as a public health issue.”
“So the answer is yes,” Pat translated, emphasizing the point that while the government itself may not have removed the information, it had threatened social media platforms with an ultimatum: “or else.”
And now, Zuckerberg's admissions have revealed the true nature of government censorship.
While many are excited about the Meta CEO's change of direction, Pat doesn't believe it's a true change of heart.
“Why now?” he asks.
Is Zuckerberg simply toeing the line of the incoming administration? After all, he is the man who has been begging for government regulation of the internet. Forever.”
