13-Year-Old Stabbed to Death in Birmingham Suburb

A murder investigation has been launched following the stabbing death of a 13-year-old boy in Oldbury, outside Birmingham.

West Midlands Police have launched a murder investigation after a 13-year-old boy was stabbed to death at an address on Lovett Street in the market town of Oldbury, Sandwell, at around 4pm on Thursday.

The boy was treated by paramedics at the scene but their efforts were unsuccessful and he tragically died.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said: “On arrival we found a teenage boy with life-threatening injuries. Paramedics provided advanced trauma treatment at the scene but unfortunately despite their best efforts they were unable to save the boy and he was pronounced dead at the scene.”

Detective Superintendent Shaun Edwards, from West Midlands Police's Homicide Unit, said in a statement: said“The loss of a young life is truly tragic.

“We have specialist officers supporting the boy's family and detectives are working flat out to find the perpetrator and put him in custody as quickly as possible.”

Neighborhood residents said Local Express and Star The newspaper reported: “I didn't know the family well but we exchanged greetings as neighbours. I had no idea there was any trouble from them. They are a normal family from our area and I know them to be good people.”

“I've always felt very safe here and we're very close so it's quite a shock that something like this would happen.”
