She Flipped on Fracking Ban ‘During the 2020 Election, and A Little Before That’

On Friday's CNN News Central broadcast, Rep. Robert Garcia (D-Calif.), co-chair of the Harris-Waltz campaign, argued that Vice President Kamala Harris, the Democratic nominee for 2024 president, “stated very clearly years ago, during the 2020 election and shortly before that, that she supports fracking as a method of energy production in this country,” and that her position on fracking is no longer in question.

Garcia said, “I've known Vice President Harris for a long time. In her work as attorney general of California and then as a senator, her values have always been about protecting people and standing up for people. Of course, she's always been a leader on climate change and an advocate for working families. She gets that part. But just to be clear, the vice president made her position on fracking very clear many years ago, during the 2020 election and shortly before that, that she supports fracking as a method of energy production in this country. So, I don't think that's an issue anymore. People can have different perspectives and change their perspectives over time, but her values have always been consistent. So I think on that issue specifically, she's made that clear many times, and certainly made it clear several years ago.”
