Harris Hasn’t Actually Given Specifics on How She’d Regulate Fracking

On CNN's “Inside Politics” broadcast on Friday, Sen. Markwayne Mullin (R-Okla.) said that Vice President and 2024 Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris has barely changed her position on fracking, claiming that she doesn't want to ban fracking altogether, but hasn't actually spoken about plans to regulate it in the future.

Marin said:[T]here [are] There are ways to ban fracking, but in 2019 she said she would ban fracking altogether. By the way, all of her actions and behavior over the 1,300+ days she was in office were: [have shown] “She's not for the oil and gas industry at all. She's pro-environment. She talks about the Green New Deal and how she's been pushing for that. And she wants to get rid of all combustion engines. She's made that very clear. She supports that rule in California. And she, they — remember, this is also the administration that denied a permit to export LNG to our allies. So when you start talking about her position on fossil fuels, that hasn't changed. It hasn't changed, as she says.”

He added, “She can say all she wants that she doesn't support a total ban on fracking, but she hasn't said what she's going to do through the regulatory environment. Is she actually going to embrace that? Is she going to take a Republican position and say drill, drill, drill, let's become energy independent and let consumers choose what kind of energy they want to buy? If she's serious about controlling inflation, she should be serious about drilling and we should be serious about getting all the energy we need in the United States instead of importing it from Saudi Arabia like her state does.”
