Tiger mauls animal handler at Dreamworld theme park on the Gold Coast | Gold Coast

A tiger keeper was attacked by a big cat at a Gold Coast theme park and is in hospital with an injured arm, paramedics say.

A Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS) spokesman said paramedics transported a woman with “multiple lacerations to her arm” from Dreamworld to Gold Coast University Hospital after an “incident involving a tiger” about 9am on Monday.

“An incident occurred between one of the park's tigers and a trained tiger handler,” a Dreamworld spokesman said.

“Dreamworld's immediate focus is on supporting our team members,” a spokesman said.

“This is an isolated and rare incident and we will conduct a thorough investigation accordingly.”

The woman, in her 30s, is in stable condition.
