(NEXSTAR) — Labor Day, the unofficial end of summer, has sadly arrived. If you’re traveling to celebrate or are short on barbecue ingredients, here’s a look at what stores will and won’t be open on September 2.
First, we want to let you know that you won't receive mail on Monday. The United States Postal Service will be closed in observance of Labor Day. UPS, FedExand Amazon Banks will also be closed on Labor Day, although most ATMs will remain open.
While you probably won't be able to pick up packages or stop by a bank, many retail stores will be open on Labor Day. Hours may vary by location, so it's a good idea to call ahead or check store hours online before heading out. Pharmacy services at individual stores may also be closed on Labor Day.
The following retailers will be open on Monday:
- Albertsons
- Big Lots (Unless your store recently closed)
- Dollar General
- Kroger Store
- Sprouts
- target
- Trader Joe's
- Walmart
- Whole Foods
Pharmacies like CVS, Rite Aid, Walgreens, and Wegmans may have reduced hours or close completely on holidays, so call ahead or check store hours online before picking up your prescription.
Other retailers, Aldi and Sam's Clubwill be open but with limited hours. Costco The store will be closed.
If you're looking for a quick bite, most fast-food chains are open on Mondays, including Chick-fil-A, which is closed on most other holidays, and fellow chicken-focused chain Raising Cane's. It will be closed For Labor Day.

After Labor Day, the next biggest holiday that could disrupt mail and shopping is Thanksgiving.
