Taylor Fritz is going where he's never been before in a Grand Slam, and his partner is showing some love.
Fritz beat fourth-seeded Alexander Zverev 7-6 (2), 3-6, 6-4, 7-6 (3) on Tuesday afternoon to reach the U.S. Open semifinals. His longtime girlfriend, Morgan Riddle, was thrilled by the moment.
When Fritz reached the final four of the tournament at Arthur Ashe Stadium, Riddle was caught on camera by ESPN cameras, who snapped photos of photographers clapping and smiling.
She shared a video from inside the arena on her social media accounts and wrote: “Semi-finals” along with three painting nails emojis.
She also re-shared several other people's posts, one of which called them a “power couple.”
Another user wrote that ESPN is her biggest fan, not Fritz, to which Riddle replied, “Gunshots rang out.”
Liddle hasn't been shy about sharing his experiences at the U.S. Open and in New York during this Grand Slam, posting numerous photos and videos from his time in the Big Apple over the past two weeks.
This included a roundup of photos taken on Monday at the Queens site.
“I know love exists because there is so much love in this game!” she wrote.
Liddle made headlines when he congratulated Fritz on his win over Zverev to reach the round of 16 at Wimbledon in July.
She quickly deleted several posts afterwards, including a video with the caption “When your guy wins the girl” and Chapel Lawn's hit “Hot to Go!”
“Regarding my article from yesterday… I have immediately removed it as I realised it had been misinterpreted and exaggerated by the media,” Liddle said at the time. “The article was not about anything that happened off the tennis court and there is no ill will between anyone.”
Fritz will face fellow American Francis Tiafoe or Grigor Dimitrov in the semifinals.
