Prince Harry, Matt Damon to Address Elites at Clinton Global Initiative

AP Reports The theme of the 2024 gathering of political, business and philanthropic leaders will be “What Works,” an effort to shine a spotlight on potential solutions and effective aid in a world marked by war, rising poverty and widespread destitution. Income inequality and Food insecurity.

Former President Bill Clinton revealed that this year's Clinton Global Initiative will “double down” on progress on a number of key issues.

“We started CGI because we wanted to have a forum where people could not just talk about big issues, but roll up their sleeves and get something done,” he said in a statement to The Associated Press. “It's more important than ever to be optimistic and recognize that we all have the power to make a difference.”

The Duke of Sussex is due to discuss the launch of the Archewell Foundation's Parent Network, an initiative to support parents whose children have suffered or lost their lives as a result of online victimisation.

He also plans to talk about his nonprofit's work with the World Health Organization and others to eliminate violence against children, an issue he and his wife, Meghan, outlined during a recent visit to Colombia.

Meanwhile, Oscar-winner Damon is expected to speak about the status of a $1 billion plan he announced in 2022 to provide permanent access to water and sanitation for 100 million people in Africa, Asia and Latin America.

The conference, which coincides with UN General Assembly week, is due to feature business leaders including Pfizer CEO Albert Bourla, US Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen and World Health Organisation Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus.

Past events have featured speakers such as A-list celebrities and top business executives, including Ben Affleck, Bono, and former presidents Barack Obama and Jimmy Carter.

The initiative is also backed by major corporations including Coca-Cola, Barclays, Goldman Sachs, Blackstone Group, Laureate Education, Monsanto and Standard Chartered Bank.
