Simone Biles takes in US Open after dominant Paris Olympics

Simone Biles' Olympic victory march continued at the U.S. Open on Wednesday night.

The 11-time Olympic medalist gymnast, just weeks after her exploits in Paris, watched Jessica Pegula defeat world number one Iga Swiatek in the quarterfinals at Arthur Ashe Stadium.

The 27-year-old Biles smiled and waved to the crowd after fellow Olympian Pegula beat Poland's Swiatek 6-2, 6-4 in two sets to reach the semi-finals.

Pegula, who lost to Ukraine's Elina Svitolina in the second round of the Olympic women's singles, will face Karolina Muchova of the Czech Republic on Thursday night.

Biles has had a busy time since returning from Paris to the United States, where she won four more Olympic medals.

The seven-time Olympic gold medalist, who reached the podium in the team and individual all-around events and the vault final as well as winning a silver medal in the floor exercise final, cheered on her husband, Jonathan Owens, at a Bears preseason game in Chicago last month.

Biles, wearing an Owens-inspired jacket printed with highlights from his last season with the Packers, the Bears' longtime rival, embraced the 29-year-old safety at Soldier Field.

Owens, who married Biles last spring, signed a two-year contract with the Bears in the offseason after spending 2023 in Green Bay.

Biles then traveled to Indiana to hang out with WNBA rookie star Caitlin Clark at a Fever game, then traveled to Houston to throw out the ceremonial first pitch at an Astros game.

The superstar gymnast will be on the road this month as part of her Gold Over America tour. This is explained as follows: “An exhilarating display of incredible athleticism and energetic choreography that conveys an inspiring message of hope, strength, resilience and determination.”

The tour will begin on September 16th in Oceanside, California and conclude on November 3rd in Detroit.
