UFC fans are eagerly awaiting Conor McGregor's next move onto the combat sports stage, but the Irish MMA legend seems to be hinting at a different entry into the political arena.
The former champion appeared on X on Thursday and revealed what would be a kind of deal with Irish voters if elected leader of Ireland.
“As president, I have the power to convene and dissolve the Irish House of Representatives,” McGregor wrote, “so, as I've said before, I will have all the answers the Irish people want from worker thieves, family unity disrupters, small business destroyers and whatnot.”
“The charlatans in power will be called to account to the Irish people and I will finish it by the end of the day, or I will be left with no option but to dissolve the House of Commons completely. Until then, stop the trains. The Irish people are entitled to the answers they want. I am clear. This is my prerogative as President. I know very well. Ireland needs a proactive President, fully employed by the Irish people. That is me. I am the only logical choice. 2025 is approaching…”
McGregor has not competed since breaking his foot in the third fight of his trilogy against American Dustin Poirier in July 2021. He was due to fight Michael Chandler in June but broke his toe in training and was forced to withdraw. Although an exact date has not been set, many believe McGregor and Chandler will finally meet in January.
