Linda Sun, former deputy chief of staff to New York Governor Kathy Hawkle and former aide to former New York Governor Andrew Cuomo, is currently facing federal indictment for allegedly acting as an anonymous agent for the People's Republic of China.
Sun was arrested by the FBI at his $3.6 million Long Island home on suspicion of being a foreign agent for the Chinese Communist Party.
Federal prosecutors believe she conspired to advance the interests of the Chinese Communist Party in exchange for millions of dollars while working for the New York state government, and have charged her with failing to register as a foreign agent, visa fraud and alien smuggling.
Her husband has also been indicted on money laundering conspiracy charges, which has reportedly allowed the couple to live a lavish lifestyle that includes a mansion on Long Island, a $1.9 million condo in Hawaii and a 2024 Ferrari.
“Apparently, being an agent for the Chinese Communist Party is really lucrative.” Sara Gonzalez Comments on “Sara Gonzales Unfiltered.”
Sun reportedly blocked Taiwan's access to Governor Ho Chol, altered New York State's messaging to be more favorable to the Chinese Communist Party, removed all references to Taiwan, and prevented New York State officials from publicly mentioning the Chinese Communist Party's persecution of the Uighurs.
A Chinese Communist Party operative began his political career as chief of staff to New York State Assembly member Grace Meng, who now serves in Congress. Meng's father, Jimmy Meng, was the first Asian American ever elected to Congress in New York state history.
He was later arrested on wire fraud charges in an FBI sting operation.
“My point is, if Linda Sun's leader was Grace Meng, we already know that her father was arrested for wire fraud,” Gonzalez said. “These people all seem corrupt. Maybe we should investigate this woman who's now a member of Congress.”
Sun has participated in diversity efforts under Cuomo and has made it clear she doesn't believe there are enough Asian Americans working in government.
“I don't know how you can make the argument that as an Asian person, there's not enough representation in government when you're literally an Asian person and you started working with Asian people who worked in government,” Gonzalez said.
“Make it make sense,” she added.
Gonzales also noted that this is not the first time a Democrat has been exposed as a Chinese spy, as Democrat Eric Swalwell was found to have had an affair with a Chinese spy.
“Democrats have a Chinese espionage problem,” Gonzalez said.
