Frustration over transgender ‘acceptance’ allegedly fueled Georgia shooting: CNN report

CNN reports that the FBI has uncovered evidence that links the suspect in the Apalachee High School shooting and could explain a motive for the attack.

The report cited the document Assert Last year, the FBI identified a Discord account as belonging to Colt Gray, and according to a summary posted by CNN, the account's owner said he was planning to attack an elementary school and expressed “frustration with the acceptance of transgender people.”

“I can't kill myself yet because I haven't contributed anything to the culture.”

Police have arrested Colt Gray on suspicion of shooting and wounding two students and two teachers on Wednesday, wounding nine others.

The Discord user also posted a photo of a firearm and reportedly said, “I am a mass shooter and I've been waiting a couple of years.” [sic]”

Another posted: “I can't kill myself yet because I haven't contributed anything to the culture. I need to go out knowing I have contributed.” [sic].”

The FBI sent information about the account to the Jackson County Sheriff's Office, but investigators concluded that the actions of the Discord user making the threats were “not substantiated” and closed the investigation.

A Discord spokesperson confirmed to CNN that the company had shut down an account “believed to be associated” with Gray last year for violating its policies banning extremism.

Gray's father was also arrested on suspicion of gifting his son the gun used in the attack, despite authorities warning him about the threats.
