Tulsa, Oklahoma police call During a dispute between neighbours, a “homicide in self-defence” occurred on Tuesday evening when approximately five men lunged at the homeowner and physically attacked him.
However, the victim happened to have a weapon and opened fire, hitting two attackers, believed to be a father and son, police said. The father later died. Reported by KOKI-TV.
“Some guys came around him and he [got] “After work, they would go and pick on my brother and stuff like that. Apparently that happened and they did it again and I told them, 'Don't go and pick on my brother.'”
Police said they responded to the scene near the 2700 block of North Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard around 7 p.m. and found Marco Richardson in a driveway suffering from a gunshot wound. Richardson, 47, later died, according to KOKI.
Police said another person, who the department reported was Richardson's 31-year-old son, was also shot and taken to the hospital in serious condition.
Police said that “during an ongoing dispute between the homeowner and a neighbor,” about five people approached the home and attacked the homeowner, forcing him against a car and assaulting him. Police said the homeowner then pulled out a handgun “in self-defense” and shot Richardson and another person before the remaining assailants fled the scene.

According to police, the homeowner cooperated with officers, handed over the gun and made a statement to investigators. Police said that based on witness statements and evidence collected, no charges were filed against the homeowner. The investigation is ongoing and, once completed, will be presented to the District Attorney's Office for final disposition, police added.
The homeowner's brother, Anthony Hall, spoke to KOKI on camera and said he warned them not to antagonize his brother: “I feel sorry for that family and what's going on with them, but I told them not to lay hands on my brother. They carried on with it and it just escalated from there.”
Police said they are not releasing the homeowner's name because he has not been arrested, but Hall told KOKI that she learned about the deadly incident over the phone.
“Some guys came around him and he [got] “After work, they would go and mess with my brother,” Hall told the station. “Apparently that happened, and they did it again, and I said, 'Stop messing with my brother.'”
Inspector Richard Muilenburg told KOKI that the homeowner who pulled the trigger did so against “overwhelming odds.”
Richardson suffered a wound in the chest and died a short time later at a hospital, the station said.
“I don't want anything bad to happen like that,” Hall told KOKI. [but] people [has] Respect in someone's home, you know what I mean? You have to respect people, just don't trample on them.”
“Really understand the law. If you can avoid a confrontation with a person, that's the best thing you can do. So unless your absolute last resort is to protect yourself, find another way and call us,” Muilenburg told the station.
