Tyreek Hill handcuffed over driving violation before Dolphins game

Dolphins star receiver Tyreek Hill was detained by police on Sunday morning for a traffic violation as he was entering the team's stadium for the NFL's Week 1 opener against the Jaguars, his agent, Drew Rosenhaus, told multiple reporters.

ESPN's Jeff Darlington Reports Hill was charged with reckless driving and got into an altercation with police after being pulled over. He was released after being charged.

Hill, 30, is expected to play in Sunday's game.

“It's very upsetting to see the way he was treated,” Rosenhaus said in a television interview with NFL Network inside the stadium after the incident.

“It's unnecessary. There's no reason for Tyreek to be treated like that.”

Rosenhaus called the situation “absurd” and said Hill felt things had “gotten out of hand,” adding that she would be speaking with her lawyer.

The Dolphins will host the Jaguars at 1 p.m.

“WR Tyreek Hill was involved in a traffic accident this morning approximately a block from the stadium and was briefly detained by police. He has since been released,” the Dolphins said in a statement. “Several teammates witnessed the accident and stopped to offer their support. Tyreek and all other players arrived at the stadium safely and are expected to be available for today's game.”
