Michigan Republican Senate candidate Mike Rogers suggested Sunday that Republicans will win the November election by a “vast margin” and prevent a “rigged” general election.
When asked a question News Nation Asked whether he was worried about election fraud claims repeating the cycle, Rogers, a reporter for The Hill Sunday, said: “That's what we're doing, Chris. We're going to make it so big that it's impossible to steal.”
“We are from the U.P. [Upper Peninsula] “From southern Michigan to southeastern Michigan, we've gone above and beyond expectations and engaged people on this issue,” he told NewsNation host Chris Styrewalt. “This isn't a black or white election. It's a green election. People are suffering.”
Styewalt then asked Rogers, a former congressman, whether he was concerned that the 2020 election was rigged or that there could be rigging this term.
“I think there are going to be unusual events in every election across the country. I've said that from day one. The first time I ran, there was a bag of ballots found under the clerk's desk. In 2000, I won the closest election in the country. So listen, I know what's going to happen,” Rogers replied.
“We all know what's going to happen, so what we're trying to do is see if we can make sure that people don't have to worry about finding a bag of unsealed ballots somewhere in the middle of the night,” he said.
This statement was made by former President Trump Posted on Truth Social On Saturday, he threatened to prosecute lawyers, political donors and political operatives if they were found to have engaged in “fraudulent practices” or “immoral conduct” with regard to the vote.
“Stop,” Trump wrote in the post. “Along with many lawyers and legal scholars, I know better than anyone the rampant fraud and misdeeds perpetrated by Democrats in the 2020 Presidential Election and we are watching very closely the sanctity of the 2024 Presidential election,” he wrote.
Rogers argued that elections need to be “easy to vote” and “hard to cheat,” and accused Democratic-majority states of stoking doubts about the integrity of the election.
“Questions about the integrity of our elections are a big issue for the country, for all of us,” he said. “And my argument is that we should make it easy to vote and hard to cheat. But Democratic-majority states are opening up their elections and making them a little less transparent, so to speak. That's not what the states are doing.”
Trump has repeatedly alleged widespread fraud in the 2020 election, which he lost to President Biden. He has challenged the results in court, but courts have rejected his claims for lack of standing and a lack of evidence.RejectedVarious election issues.
The former president faces criminal charges in Georgia for attempting to overturn the results of the 2020 election, and has been indicted in federal court in Washington, D.C., for attempting to overturn the election results and remain in power.
