Kamala Harris Is Changing Positions to ‘Win the Election’

Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) said on NBC's “Meet the Press” on Sunday that Vice President Kamala Harris changed her position to “win the election.”

“You've described Vice President Kamala Harris as a progressive. She used to support Medicare for All, but she no longer does. She used to support a ban on fracking, but she no longer supports it. Senator, these are ideas you campaigned on. Do you think she's abandoning progressive ideals?”

Sanders said, “No, I don't think she's abandoning her ideals. I think she's trying to be pragmatic and doing what she thinks is right in order to win elections. My own view is a little bit different. I think there are a lot of rural and working class people in America today who are dominated by the interests of the very wealthy and who no longer believe that the United States Congress and the government represent their interests. So I personally think something is wrong that we are the only large country on earth that doesn't guarantee health care for all its citizens, despite spending twice as much per capita. That's why I support Medicare for All.”

“Senator, do you consider Vice President Kamala Harris to be a progressive?” Welker asked.

“I think so,” Sanders replied.
