Rep. Ro Khanna Not a Fan of Dems Labeling Republicans as ‘Weird’

Rep. Ro Khan (D-Calif.) said he doesn't agree with his Democratic colleagues calling Republicans “wackos,” adding that it doesn't advance “American democracy.”

One-on-one event and Guardian in Texas Tribune Festival Khanna explained in Austin on Saturday that Democrats “deserve to win” and that to do so they need to “present a vision” that unites the country.

Watch — Running out of ideas? Left-wing media labels Trump, J.D. Vance, and RFK “weird”:

“To be honest, I don't like calling each other 'kooks' or other bad names, and I don't think it advances American democracy,” Khanna explained. “I think in this country, and as a political party, we have to not just win, but deserve to win. And deserve to win means offering a vision that unites this country in a common purpose.”

Khanna, the Harris campaign rep, said it's “not fashionable” to follow former first lady Michelle Obama's advice to “go high when others go low,” but added that he felt the strategy was “a win for a nation yearning for some new common purpose.”

As Breitbart News' Joel Pollack reports, Democrats have described former President Donald Trump and his running mate, Sen. J.D. Vance (R-Ohio), as “weird,” but there's “nothing” weird about Vance.

The insult seems specifically designed to appeal to younger and female voters, for whom “weird” is a catch-all word for all that is bad, creepy or threatening.

But aside from his beard, there's nothing immediately “weird” or odd about Vance: no bearded man has been a presidential candidate since the late 19th century.

The only thing unusual about Vance is his background: He grew up in working-class Appalachia and overcame difficult family circumstances to join the Marines, graduate from Ohio State University, and go on to Yale Law School.

WATCH — Rep. Khanna, a surrogate for the Harris-Waltz campaign, criticizes Kamala's economic policies:

Vance has previously said he is unfazed when Democrats attack him and call him a lunatic.

Trump at a rally in Montana Dealt with Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, a Democrat and Vice President Kamala Harris' running mate, attacked Vance and Trump, calling them “creepy” and “very weird.”

“No, we're not weirdos,” Trump said. “We're a very strong people. We want strong borders. We want a good election.”

Trump added that he and Vance are “the opposite of weird.”
