Sanders ‘Right’ About Her ‘Evolution’ as She’s Running in ‘Different Context’ Trying to Get Undecideds

Speaking on Fox News Channel's “America Report” on Monday, Delaware Gov. John Carney (D), a surrogate for the Harris-Waltz campaign, said Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) was “correct” in his assessment of 2024 Democratic presidential candidate and Vice President Kamala Harris, arguing that Harris is “running on the basis of President Joe Biden's record” in “the evolution of a candidate who is really trying to gain support from a small portion of voters who are currently running locally or in other contexts and are undecided about who they want to support in this election.”

Co-host John Roberts played a clip of Sanders saying, “I don't think she's abandoned her ideals. I think she's trying to be pragmatic and do what she thinks is right to win elections. … Her views are not my own, but I consider her a progressive.”

Roberts then asked Harris whether she would again support a ban on fracking if elected.

Carney responded: “[Y]Senator Sanders has said that even though she considers herself a progressive, she doesn't support some of the positions he supports, but I'm going to take her at her word that she does…[ing] “She's said different things in the past, but now she's against fracking. I think Senator Sanders is right in terms of the evolution of a candidate who's running locally and in a different context now. She's really trying to gain support from that small portion of the electorate that hasn't decided who they're going to support in this election. So she ran, or is running, on her record as president of the United States, and I think that's a winning record.”
