A new national poll from The New York Times and Siena College finds that while voters are confident about President Donald Trump, they still have little confidence in Kamala Harris, her policies and plans.
CNN investigative arm KFile uncovered documents this week that offer some surprising insight into what the Democratic candidate really believes, including taxpayer-funded sex reassignment for illegal immigrants and federal prisoners, repealing the Hyde Amendment, statehood for Washington, D.C., decriminalizing crack cocaine for personal use and cutting funding to Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

American Civil Liberties Union Survey The bill, completed by then-Sen. Kamala Harris (D-Calif.) in 2019, renewed Democratic concerns about extremism. surprise CNN's Erin Burnett.
In the survey, Harris vowed:
- Abolish private prisons and illegal immigrant detention centers.
- “I support federal decriminalization of all drug possession for personal use.”
- Reduce the population of illegal immigration detention facilities by at least 50% and end funding for the construction of new facilities.
- End the use of ICE detention.
- “Pass immigration reform that will create a path to citizenship for the more than 11 million people who live in our communities.”
- Calls for a federal moratorium on executions.
- “Fight” for Washington DC statehood
- “States with a history of unconstitutionally restricting abortion access will be required to receive pre-approval from the Department of Justice before any new laws or practices are implemented.”
- Repeal the Hyde Amendment and “require all insurance companies to provide full reproductive health care services.”
- It would ensure that “federal prisoners and detainees have access to medical care necessary for sex reassignment, including surgical care, while incarcerated or detained.”
ACLU (American Civil Liberties Union)
said The questionnaire has gone largely unnoticed for years, but has been publicly available since 2019, according to KFile. However, the source for the document's page, dated August 2024, indicates it was uploaded after President Joe Biden replaced Harris. Questionnaires filled out by other 2020 candidates were reportedly not made public as well.

Regarding the survey findings, particularly that future border patrol officers expressed a desire to reduce funding for ICE, “Erin Burnett, host of OutFront, said:
said “That in itself is pretty incredible,” KFile's Andrew Kaczynski said Monday.
After Barnett pointed out that Harris supports taxpayer-funded sex-reassignment surgery for illegal immigrants in custody, she got Kaczynski to repeat the remarks.
“Taxpayer funded sex reassignment surgery for detained immigrants? She actually said she supports that?” one shocked commentator said.
“When asked, she responded in the affirmative,” Kaczynki said. “She also said she would support the bill for federal prisoners.”
Kaczynski suggested that Harris was “trying to be to the left of Bernie Sanders and to the left of Elizabeth Warren” during the 2019 Democratic primary.
“This is really great,” Barnett concluded.
“My values have not changed,” Harris recently told CNN's Dana Bash, but when asked if she would continue to stand by those positions, her campaign told KFile, “The Vice President's positions have been shaped by three years of effective governance of the Biden-Harris Administration.”
“As president, she will take the same pragmatic approach and focus on commonsense solutions for progress,” the campaign added.
