Fox News renews invitation for Harris, Trump debate

Fox News has invited former President Trump and Vice President Harris to debate again on the network in October, anchor Bret Baier said Tuesday.

The news came after Harris' campaign released a statement following the candidates' showdown Tuesday night, praising Harris' performance and saying, “Under the bright lights, the American people were able to see the choice they face at the ballot box this fall: move forward with Kamala Harris or move backward with Trump.”

“That's what they saw tonight and that's what they will see in the second debate in October,” the statement added. “Vice President Harris is ready for the second debate. What about Donald Trump?”

“Fox has formally invited both sides to debate in October,” Baier said.

“We sent out a formal invitation, just like we did before,” he said, “and we've updated it specifically for the debate that will be held on Fox News in October. [is] It was taken away, but Americans seem to want another chance. [compare the] The candidates. It was a very short time, but they should be given as many opportunities as possible. I sincerely hope that they will accept our offer.”

Trump has repeatedly called for the debate to be hosted by Fox, the top-rated cable news channel that features a host of prime-time opinion hosts who are broadly supportive of him and his policies.

However, after the Philadelphia debate, Trump did not say whether he would debate Harris again.

“She lost tonight, so she wants to debate again. I'm not sure if I'll do it again,” he said during a surprise appearance in the spin room. “She lost badly tonight, so she wants to debate again… I'll consider it.”
