The apparent bias shown by ABC News hosts David Muir and Lindsey Davis during Tuesday's presidential debate has focused attention on their boss, Disney executive Dana Walden, who oversees ABC News and is a close friend of Kamala Harris.
During the live broadcast, the network's hostility toward former President Donald Trump was so overt that even Megyn Kelly, no staunch Trump supporter, denounced Walden, saying she was leading an effort “to steal this election. They're openly trying to take down Mr. Trump.”
Megyn Kelly's post-debate wrap-up focused in part on Disney executive Dana Walden, who serves as co-chairman of Disney Entertainment and runs a number of television programs, including ABC News.
“I'm ashamed of the hosts at ABC News. They did what their bosses asked them to do. The hosts at ABC News are close friends of Kamala Harris and are responsible for visits with her and her husband,” Kelly said. “They did what Dana Walden told them tonight. They were outnumbered three to one on the debate stage.”
“I was wrong to trust ABC News with this debate,” she continued. “Tonight those two hosts tried to take down Donald Trump. They are trying to steal this election. They are openly working to take him down. It's so terrible… Their bias against him and against her is going to backfire.”
As Breitbart News reported, ABC News CEO Dana Walden is facing intense scrutiny over a conflict of interest with Kamala Harris.
Walden has donated to Harris multiple times throughout her political career, even hosting a fundraiser for her at his Los Angeles home, and donated a reported $20,000 to support President Biden and the Democratic Party last year.
Most notably, Walden remains close friends with Kamala Harris and her husband, entertainment lawyer Doug Emhoff. Harris once said at a 2022 fundraiser that she owes her marriage to Dana Walden and her husband, Matt.
On Tuesday, ABC News hosts David Muir and Lindsey Davis repeatedly fact-checked Trump's statements live on air, while allowing Harris to churn out an uninterrupted stream of easily disproven lies, including about the Charlottesville hoax.
They also could not pose follow-up questions to Kamala Harris, as they did to Trump.
ABC News has been found to have spread fake news about Trump in the past.
During the Trump Administration, news networks aired false reports that Donald Trump had directed Michelle Flynn to contact Russian officials during the 2016 presidential campaign. In reality, Trump issued that directive as president-elect and established international relations during his transition to the White House.
ABC News retracted the report and fired longtime correspondent Bob Ross.
Debate moderator Lindsey Davis previously tried to link Trump to the KKK, which Trump has no ties to.
